Situation
- Variance in the motorbike chain repeatedly led to incorrect assembly with high rework costs.
- The use of an AWS-based pick-to-light system requires bidirectional coupling to a Siemens conveyor PLC via RFC1006 protocol for clock infeed and belt stop.
Solution
- Configuration of the Arendar as a gateway between PLC and AWS server instance with bidirectional protocol conversion RFC1006 / MQTT.
- Access to the elements of the BMW-specific user data protocol is freely configurable via web interface.
Advantages
- Implementation time incl. initial implementation of RFC1006 in only 4 weeks instead of 6 months with the previously planned BMW solutions (industrial PC with Docker containers).
- Based on the preliminary work, further pick-to-light systems can now be connected by the department itself in approx. 15 minutes.
